Application
Process For On-Campus Living |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Question:
If I apply to the university, does that guarantee me housing?
Answer:
No. The university application and admission process
is separate from University Courtyard’s on-campus
living application process. You must apply separately and
housing is subject to availability at the time your completed
on-campus living application packet is received. Applications
are available on March 1. You are encouraged to submit the
completed on-campus living application packet immediately
upon receiving it or at least two weeks prior to your preferred
arrival date for your best opportunity to receive on-campus
living. Note: Acceptance to housing is not acceptance to
the university.
Question: If I submit my completed on-campus living application
packet immediately or within two weeks of my proposed arrival
date, am I guaranteed housing?
Answer: No. Summer
on-campus living space is limited and subject to availability.
Note: For the past several summers, we have been able to
accommodate summer session on-campus living applicants.
(See 2006-2007 for academic year information.)
Question: How do I find out if I’ve been accepted
to the university?
Answer: Admittance
to the university and applying for housing are two separate
processes. Visit my.csufresno.edu
or contact the Admissions office at (559) 278-2261 to check
on your university admission status.
Question: Can I live on campus for just the summer?
Answer: Yes. Your
license agreement is for a specific time period during the
summer that corresponds with your enrollment in summer session
classes or university sponsored workshop.
Question: Where do Summer Session students live at University
Courtyard?
Answer: Subject to
bed availability, all summer session residents are assigned
to the first floor of Sycamore Hall. All rooms are double
occupancy. Residents live in fully furnished and air conditioned
suites with shared living room, and bathroom (subject to
availability). Accommodations include:
- Air conditioning is provided in the
bedrooms, halls, and throughout the entire complex.
Residents are encouraged to conserve energy and set
air conditioners to 78 Degrees.
- Bedrooms furnished with beds, mattresses,
dressers, large desks, file cabinets, chairs, closets
and storage spaces.
- Living rooms furnished with loveseat,
chair, coffee table, bookcase, and microfridge.
- Utilities included (electricity, gas,
water, garbage, and sewer).
- Microfridge (microwave, refrigerator,
freezer) in suite living room.
- Coed floor with men in one suite and
women in another.
- Outdoor swimming pool.
- Fitness Center.
- Smoke free suites. Smoking permitted
in designated, outdoor areas.
- Mailboxes.
- Coin-operated laundry facilities.
- Accessible Information: All room assignments
are located on the first floor.
Question: Do you provide single
rooms or family housing on campus?
Answer: No. Single rooms are not available during the summer. Family or couple housing is not available on the Fresno
State campus.
Question: What does the phrase “a
completed on-campus living application packet” mean?
Answer: You must
have completely filled out, signed and submitted the following
items:
- Application
- Summer Student Housing License Agreement
- Emergency Information and Health Insurance Card
- Meningococcal Disease and Information form
- $50 non-refundable application fee
- $150 security deposit.
- Submitted full Payment.
All submitted on-campus living applications are bound to the Terms and Conditions stated in the license agreement and application materials (See Cancellation section).
Question: Why should I choose to live on-campus rather than
live in an off-campus apartment?
Answer: One of the
purposes of living on campus is to develop a network of
students that support each other academically and to make
new friends. Living in a double occupancy room provides
many opportunities to develop the network and to meet new
people. In addition, University Courtyard wants to provide
on-campus living to as many students as possible.
We surveyed residents in Fall 2002 and asked for suggestions
on how to increase the number of beds available. The majority
of residents responded to reduce the number of singles.
University Courtyard appreciates new resident’s understanding as we strive to provide housing to as many Fresno State students as possible.
Question: Can I choose my own roommate or can I talk with
the person before I move in?
Answer: During the
summer there is limited bed space available; therefore,
we are not able to accommodate roommate requests or provide
contact information prior to move in.
Question: When will I find out my room assignment?
Answer: Upon receipt of completed application,
license agreement, emergency insurance card, menigococcal
form, full payment of non-refundable application fee and
security deposit you will be notified by mail, phone,
or fax of space availability. Note: Room assignment
provided at check-in.
Question:When am I required to submit my health insurance
information?
Answer: Students
living on-campus are required to provide health insurance
information no later than two weeks after moving in. See
on-campus living application packet for health insurance
requirements.

Question:
Is there internet, broadband, or DSL service in the room?
Answer: A student
may bring their own computer for their room and subscribe
to internet service. Students would need to subscribe to
a dial-up service as well as activate and pay for phone
service through Fresno State’s ITS department. The
Central Valley Internet Project may offer a dial-up service
during the summer months For information call (559) 278-1111,
Monday-Friday, 7 am-3 pm (summer hours) or visit their web
site at www.cvip.net. Note: Internet and e-mail access is
available in room only if a resident brings their own computer

service and phone service. Connection is made through the
phone line shared by roommates if in a double. University
Courtyard does not provide technical support for student
computers.
Question: Can I bring
a telephone/answering machine, TV, stereo, VCR, refrigerator,
vacuum cleaner, coffee maker?
Answer: Yes you

in the Atrium is available for all residents to use and
there is a television in the first floor lobby of each of

the term “residence suites” mean?
Answer: Residence
