Editors Column: Five Long Days

NOTE This article was written earlier in the week

Today is Monday, November 27, 2007. Today is the first of five days apart from the world of technology. I will attempt to go five days without my ipod, myspace, facebook, TV or the internet for any reasons beyond my online classes. I will attempt to research for my other classes the old fashion way using the library.

Tuesday, November 28, 2007: and it is day two of my quest. Many have said I am on a "suicide mission." OK, maybe I needed a break from Myspace and Facebook but there is this desire to log on. The absence of Television is proving to be the most difficult. I live, breathe and sleep ESPN. Without it, my life is empty. I missed Monday Night Football for the first time in a long time but usually if I miss a game I can just watch the highlights later.

Wednesday Novemeber 29, 2007 and it feels like three days has lasted an eternity. I decided to go the gym and not think about this week so far. The gym was possibly the worst place to go. Everyone (and I mean everyone) seemed to be waving an ipod in my face. They were shouting "just listen to me." I completely forgot about the giant console of numerous TVs in the center. I decided run on the track as it was the safest place to be.

Well since this article will be published on Thursday, look at the next issue of housing hapennings for the conclusion of my "suicide mission."
