General Information:

If I apply to the university, does that guarantee me housing?
Answer: No. The university application and admission process is separate from University Courtyard’s on-campus living application process. You must apply separately and housing is subject to availability at the time your completed on-campus living application packet is received. Applications are available on March 1. You are encouraged to submit the completed on-campus living application packet immediately upon receiving it or at least two weeks prior to your preferred arrival date for your best opportunity to receive on-campus living. Note: Acceptance to housing is not acceptance to the university.

If I submit my completed on-campus living application packet immediately or within two weeks of my proposed arrival date, am I guaranteed housing?
Answer:  No.  Summer on-campus living space is limited and subject to availability.  Note: For the past several summers, we have been able to accommodate summer session on-campus living applicants.

How do I find out if I’ve been accepted to the university?
Answer:  Admittance to the university and applying for housing are two separate processes.  Visit my.csufresno.edu or contact the Admissions office at 559.278.2261 to check on your university admission status.

Can I live on campus for just the summer?
Answer:  Yes.  Your license agreement is for a specific time period during the summer that corresponds with your enrollment in summer session classes or a university sponsored workshop or your own personal preference.

How do I sign-up for a meal plan for summer?
Answer:  Meal plans are available during the summer months.  The Residence Dining Facility is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Monday-Friday, between the first weekend in June and the second weekend in August.  Operating dates and times are provided in the check-in packet.  To buy a meal plan for the summer or for more meal plan questions, please contact Dining Services at 559.278.3904.

Free cable hook-up is available in each room; including the suite living rooms.  Digital cable convertors are also available through Comcast.

What does the term “residence suites” mean?

Answer:  Summer session space is very limited and residents are strongly encouraged to talk with their roommate or suitemates to mediate any conflicts. Subject to the approval of the Director of Housing, if a conflict cannot be resolved and there is another bed space available, a $50 processing fee will be assessed by University Courtyard for each person requesting a room change.

When can I move in?
Answer:  Summer session starts on Monday, May 21 and ends on Friday, August 10.

Where should I go to check-in?
Answer:  You will check-in at University Courtyard, 5152 N. Barton Ave, Fresno, CA 93740-8013 at the Atrium Customer Service Desk.  If you have not received confirmation of bed space, it is your responsibility to contact University Courtyard at 800.555.0482 or 559.278.2345 to check on availability.

What happens during check-in?
Answer:  At the Atrium Customer Service Desk, an applicant checks in on their designated arrival date.  A Check-in/Check-out Inventory Form is provided along with the room key.  Each person checking into a room is responsible for going to the assigned room, recording any damages or missing items, and returning the form to the check-in site within 30 minutes of check-in.  Each person is responsible for paying for any damages or missing items that were not recorded on the form when they check out.

Should I arrive for check-in even if I haven’t received any correspondence from University Courtyard advising me of bed availability?
Answer:  No.  If you have not been contacted by University Courtyard at least one week prior to your arrival, it is your responsibility to immediately call University Courtyard at 559.278.2345 to check on your application status (complete or incomplete) and bed assignment status (guaranteed bed or bed space not available).  We may not have been able to successfully contact you to advise you of your on-campus living application packet status.

Money Issues:

How much money do I send with my housing applications?
Answer:  Every applicant must send a $50 non-refundable application fee, $150 for your security deposit, and full payment of the Summer Session room fees.  See Summer Session Application Packet for current room fees.

What are my financial responsibilities if I apply for and receive on-campus living?
Answer:  It is important that you read the information included in the on-campus living application packet before you sign the Summer Student Housing License Agreement.  There are financial responsibilities that must be met if you apply for Summer Session on-campus living.  All summer session residents are responsible for a nightly fee during their summer stay.

How much does it cost to live on-campus?
Answer:  The amount you are charged is a set figure based on your occupancy dates you indicate on the application (2010 fee = $21.50/night, subject to change for 2011).  While you pay your room fee in advance, you are only paying for the license agreement time period.  All Summer Session applicants applying for a room are required to submit the entire room fee with their application.

If I submit my payment am I guaranteed a bed?
Answer:  No, bed assignments are based on the date and time the completed application is received and subject to availability.

Why are parents or guardians who pay for their child (or children’s) housing, not permitted to obtain information about their account or general concerns about housing?
Answer:  According to the Family and Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, we cannot legally provide student information to anyone other than the student unless a student provides in writing the person or persons we are allowed to discuss their account or general concerns about housing with.  A student’s Designated Payor however, is able to know all financial information.
