ALOCHOL REMINDER

Pursuant to B&P 25662(a)- No Minor shall have any alcohol in their possession. Alcohol and Beverage Control (ABC) clarified last week that police officers can cite any individual in possession of alcohol. This includes consumption. Officers who suspect that you have been drinking may administer a breath test and cite you for possession. Citations will result in you having a court date and could mean spending a night at county drunk tank. Here are some safety tips while you are out:

×   Buddy System- Don’t go to or leave a party alone. Always go with a group of friends.

×   Keep your eyes on your drink- Don’t let someone that you don’t know get your drink.                  Get your drink yourself. If it’s at a open bar, watch the person make your drink.

×   Know Your Limit- Make sure you know your drinking limit.

For more information check your mailbox later this week.

New Furniture at University Courtyard!

As you should have noticed by now, we’ve got new common area furniture in the Hall Lobbies and Atrium. Please be respectful of the new furniture and treat it as if it was your own. Enjoy!

ATTENTION FEMALES:

Please do not flush ANY female products down the toilet – all products must be            disposed of in the trash. Failure to do so will cause your toilet to clog. Be respectful of your suite-mates and hall-mates and following our rules.

Food = Unwanted Furry Friends

To prevent mice from moving in, it’s important that you dispose of all left over    food and keep all uneaten food sealed and put away. Though we take measures in keeping rodents out of Courtyard, all residents must help with the prevention.

Remember 9/11

Eight years ago on that faithful morning of September 11, 2001, the nation was never ready for what they were about to witness. On this very day, maybe you were getting ready for school or heading into work, trying to get through traffic just to make it on time, but in those moments none of us have ever expected anything like this to happen. Now in the present day marking the eight anniversary of 9/11, some of us will never forget that terrifying day, by making phone calls to love one and praying that everything will be okay. But this day is marked in the history books just like the Pearl Harbor Attack. I know that the people who survive the Pearl Harbor Attack pass on the story to the next generation to tell them about the brave souls who lives were lost. As a new generation and by witnessing something like this happening in our time, it is up to us to pass on this historical event to the new generation in the next 30 years. To tell them about the brave people who lives were lost on 9/11.

RLS Corner

Housing Happenings: Last year you were an RA in Homan Hall. How do you like being a PSA in Baker Hall?
Sara Takvorian: Being a PSA is different, but I am such a night person already, it's like this job was created for me. I sometimes feel bad getting people in trouble though (Stop Snitchin 09-10) but when it comes down to it, I signed up for the job.

H.H.: Was the transition from RA to PSA hard for you?
S.T.: I think the hardest transition was the connection with my residents. Even though I can do what I want, I feel like it's harder to connect with the girls here than it was in Homan, although placement might be completely irrelevant.

H.H.: Tell us one thing that you residents don’t know about you?
S.T.: Na. I'm cool.

H.H.: What is the one, single food that you would never give up?
S.T.: ICE CREEEEEEEEAAM!!!!

H.H.: Where did you go on your first airplane ride?
S.T.: My first airplane ride was from South Korea (where I was born; the motherland) to here (America).

H.H.: What is the most frequent song you play?
S.T.: Lately I have an entire playlist I have been playing. It's all different, like my iTunes vomited in that playlist.

H.H.: What really gives you the creeps?
S.T.: It really creeps me out when someone sends flowers to my direct dorm address but doesn't say who they are. Also, it creeps me out when I come back to my room and there's animals and other people living there....

H.H.: If you have to choose a movie title for your life story, what would that be?
S.T.: I already got asked this question last year and my answer is still the same because it's gonna happen one day: It's Not Easy Being Yellow: A Documentary of Sara Takvorian.

News Around the World

Carjacker Suprise

In Houston Texas four men in a Cadillac Escalade drove up to a parked car occupied with one person in the driver seat. Two armed men left the Cadillac and approached the lone driver.

The off duty Houston Police officer in full uniform was moonlighting as security in a unmarked car when the two armed men approached him. In the resulting shootout the two men were wounded while their accomlices sped from the scene.

"I don't believe that they knew he was an officer going into it, but once the door was open and one of the suspects actually brandished the weapon in the manner that he did, it was very obvious that he was a Houston police officer" said a officer.

Man Deliberately Killed Pedestrian

28-year-old Berry Cook Jr. from North Carolina is being held by police after he confessed to deliberately killing a pedestrian. According to his own account, Cook ran over 51-year-old Jimmy Mauldin because he was sick of people being on the road.

Mauldin was standing on the sidewalk across the street, outside his home in an assissted-living centre, when Cook drove across the centre line on the road and hit him with his car. Cook is being held on a U$2 million bond.

Mauldin died on Saturday night. Cook is being charged with attempted murder.
